Terms of service

The agreement between you and Muje, in plain language where plain language will do.

Draft pending legal review. These terms have not yet been reviewed by a Nigerian lawyer and are not final. Do not rely on them as a binding agreement until this notice is removed.

1. Who you are dealing with

Muje is operated by Luxy Africa Mobility Limited (RC 9703335), a company registered in Nigeria (“Muje”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@muje.ng.

By applying to drive, joining the rider list, voting for a city or using the Muje app once it launches, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use Muje.

2. What Muje is — and is not

Muje is a technology platform that connects riders with independent drivers. Muje is not a transport carrier. We do not own the vehicles, we do not employ the drivers, and we do not provide the ride itself. Drivers are independent contractors who use Muje to find trips.

Muje does not take a commission on fares and does not process fares. Riders pay drivers directly. Muje never touches the fare.

3. Pre-launch status

Muje is not yet taking trips. Right now we are approving drivers and building rider lists in Lagos and Abuja. Approving a driver application before launch does not guarantee a launch date, a trip volume, or any level of earnings.

4. Terms for drivers

4.1 Eligibility

To drive on Muje you must:

  • be at least 21 years old and legally able to work in Nigeria;
  • hold a valid Nigerian driver’s licence and provide your National Identification Number (NIN) for verification;
  • provide valid vehicle papers, including proof of ownership or lawful use, roadworthiness certificate and insurance;
  • drive a vehicle of a 2009 model year or newer that passes our inspection when you join and once a year after;
  • pass our background and document checks.

We check condition, not age alone. We may decline any application at our discretion, and we will tell you when we do.

4.2 The flat fee

Drivers pay one flat subscription fee — weekly or monthly, VAT included — to use Muje. There is no commission and no per-trip deduction. You keep 100% of every fare you collect.

Plan prices are published before launch. We will not change the price of a plan without giving you at least 60 days’ notice in writing. If you do not accept a new price you may cancel before it takes effect.

Drivers approved before launch day pay no fee for their first month. Fees are otherwise payable in advance and are non-refundable for a period already begun, except where Nigerian law requires otherwise or where we suspend the service ourselves.

4.3 Your obligations on the road

  • Charge the fixed fare shown to the rider. Do not demand more.
  • Keep your licence, insurance and papers valid at all times.
  • Keep the vehicle clean, roadworthy and in the condition it passed inspection in.
  • Do not let anyone else drive on your Muje account, and do not share your login.
  • Obey Nigerian traffic law. Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Treat every rider with respect. Discrimination is not tolerated.

4.4 Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if your documents lapse, if your vehicle fails inspection, or if we receive credible reports of unsafe or abusive conduct. Where the matter is not urgent we will raise it with you first. You may cancel your plan at any time, effective at the end of the period you have paid for.

5. Terms for riders

  • You see a fixed fare before you book. That is the fare you pay.
  • You pay the driver directly, in cash or by bank transfer, at the end of the trip.
  • Provide accurate pickup details, be ready at your pickup point, and treat your driver and their vehicle with respect.
  • Wear a seatbelt. Do not ask a driver to break traffic law or to carry more passengers than the vehicle is licensed for.
  • You are responsible for damage you cause to a vehicle beyond normal use.

6. Cancellations and no-shows

Our cancellation rules will be published in the app before launch and form part of these terms once published. Because Muje does not process fares, any cancellation fee is settled between rider and driver on the terms published at the time.

7. Safety and incidents

Call the emergency services first. Then report the incident to us at hello@muje.ng so we can investigate, and cooperate with any investigation we or the authorities carry out. We may suspend an account while we look into a report.

8. Our liability

Muje provides the platform “as is”. We work to keep it available and accurate, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Because drivers are independent contractors, the driver — not Muje — is responsible for the ride, including the condition of the vehicle and the manner of driving.

To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, Muje is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost earnings, or lost profits. Where we are found liable, our total liability to a driver is limited to the fees that driver paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

9. Your data

How we handle personal data is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes affecting drivers we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the app, and 60 days’ notice for any change to plan prices. Continuing to use Muje after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If something goes wrong, contact us first — most matters are settled that way. Disputes that cannot be resolved between us are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
